You can turn by the store on Charlton Park rd. and go down to the park to get on or go  past the store to Thornapple lake rd. and the boat launch is down a ways on your left..

we go for gills as for pike that's a no no.. the lake is a muskey breeding lk.  catch and release maybe but I was told that you cant take pike as well, For me the only release is in the frying pan.

I fished Carter today, 5" of ice most places and a full parking lot.  Tough bite but I managed a few, they really liked a black glow dot fiskas with a mousie and the bigger ones wanted the jig above them with some movement.  The parking lot is packed snow so if we get rain tomorrow it will be an ice rink and hard to get back up that hill.  Shore ice may be an issue too, with that spring right there and the inflow from the other lake too.  There were guys fishing Algonquin but I didn't stop and check the ice.

Went to middle today, seen lots of spots where people had fished earlier in the day. Only two people on the lake one had gotten his limit the other just six fish. They had been there about four hours. That was at the boat launch.

Last year Middle was the Dead Sea for me.  I am hopeful this year will be better.  How was the ice?

was out on Cloverdale Friday boy must like to get punched 1 speck and two dink gills still had 8" of ice but by the time I left good 1" of water on top, long lake no better, headed over to Thornapple after that first time Ive ever come off that lake with nothing.. Made up for it to day ended up with 30 perch between me and a friend and filled the rest of the  limit with gills was real shocked to see the standing water from Friday had froze over and still a good 7" of ice left this morning did fight the wind again. Maybe fit few more trips in this year.
