Heading up this weekend, is East harbor still locked up or did the temps and wind get high enough to bust it up too?

For guys who have never been out there. It's a protected harbor, don't have to go very far, it is shallow and weedy, and most guys sight fish. It's not like you're going out on the main lake.
Funniest thing about ice fishing for me is when people who know nothing about ice activities try to warn me about the dangers of the ice...

Was at east harbor today on a drive with my mom{91} and there were aprox 10 to 12 shantys with perhaps 35 to 40 folks fishing. Teens were playing a game of hockey also. Some fisherman were out in open sitting on buckets. Some water near  shoreline and some planks had been laid to cross same. ice fisherman stated ice perhaps 6 inches yet. No quads or sleds on ice. A drive through Pt.Clinton showed open water in the lake .

fishing their is most productive sight fishing from a shanty or use a pop up deer blinds. the water is 3 to 6 feet most places very weedy if they havent run the weed cutter through. The biggest problem I have noticed is that the overall size and quantity of bigger bluegills has diminished as its popularity has increased no ones fualt but the result Iof increased pressure. Years ago it was less pressure better fish I hate to say it now you do allot of sorting. still better than couch fishing

It has been a couple of years but last time I fished there guys were using a garden hoe tied to a string. The guys I talked to that were catching fish picked a good weed filled spot and stuck the hoe down the hole to pull up weeds for a little spot to fish in.  Good luck.   Mark
