Dunmore

Anyone know how the ice is? Has the north end caught yet? Is the south end fishable?
 Thanks for any info.

As of Wed afternoon the north end was wide open and I didn't see much ice around the point toward the island. I heard there was ice on the south end before we had the rain. I know that Fern Lake had 4" before the rain last week.

Fished Dunmore this morning. North end about half frozen and open water was dead calm. South end has about 4 inches good ice where I was. Looks like the ice extends out just past the island but doesn't look safe yet. Oh yeah, I got two pike and dozen and a half perch... Nice day to be out!

Fished fern lake last night and went by dunmore. The north end has mostly caught except the middle. Not safe but should keep building. South end iced. Seen when people have done test holes but I haven,t been on it so test it if you go.

Sunday afternoon the north has mostly caught except for a little patch around the north west side . Also it looked like open water along the eastern half of the deep basin north of the state park. I have yet to drive by it since then but would expect to be completely frozen, but there is about 3 inches of snow on it now.

Thanks for info FF. I was there on Saturday and saw pretty much the same thing as you describe. Please let us know what you see if you get any newer info. Hoping to hit the north end with the shanty soon, if it freezes...

Found out the springs part myself 3 years ago. Out and to the left of the state park about 50yds both out and left. People were driving trucks all over the lake and I was walking out to get a flag and down I went. Couldn't believe it. There was a good 16 inches of ice but in I found the spot where there was less than 2 in about 20ft of water. Love to get out there at least one this year but definitely be careful.

I heard that there is 8 inches on the south end. Before Christmas there was some edge ice along the north shores, but it looks like that is gone as of a couple days ago.

Checked on Sunday afternoon 1-08-17, north end was frozen over with no open water in sight. About 2 inches outside the cut at Waterhouse. Hopefully will hold through this crap warm weather and rain we have coming this week!
