First Ice Mishap
« on: Jan 14, 2016, 02:10 PM »
Finally got out on some ice a week ago in Northwest Iowa and got some nice gills but also lost an Iphone 6. My buddy had it on his lap, shifted his leg and the phone fell to the floor and down the hole.
We used the camera to try and snag the phone, but it did make a great reference point for the rest of the afternoon to find our jigs.

Ouch! That'll be the most expensive fishing trip of the season.

October 2009 I dropped my phone next to a creek checking traps with my buddy. I asked another guy we knew who was trapping the same area to keep an eye out for it. March of 2011 he called me and said "hey, I found your phone, you want it?"
I got it, put it in a bag of rice for 2 days, found the charger in a drawer, plugged it in, and it fired right up. 1 1/2 years and 2 winters in the woods.

It happened to my buddy's phone while duck hunting.  I guess the electric short killed the battery because it swelled up real bad.  He stuck it on a dash board for half an hour with heat at full blast, new battery....good as new.

Lost mine last winter, luckily it was in only 6 feet of water.  Was able to get it out with a net.  After a week in rice everything worked except the touch screen.  That was a $300 mistake I'm not going to make again. Now I have one of those waterproof lanyards that I wear around my neck.
