Mini - Game and I managed to set a few traps yesterday morning before the rain. Although confirmed pike haters, he seems to have a real knack for the bigger ones, picking off this +/- 15 pounder on some very light tackle. In a first for me, this fish hit our trap and then headed to deeper water, immediately a second flag popped so I assumed he had us in nice tangle. (Traps were quite close, not enough ice to get to crazy!

) After we gained some ground on it, sure enough I see the backing tangled from the other trap.

When we eventually iced it, couldn't believe it when I saw one small octopus hook in the left jaw and another in the right! Yep, he had hit both lines and was hooked perfectly on both sides, crazy. With a little untangling, all rigging retrieved.

Pulled at noon as the rain started, figured The Revelent was a safer option, great flick!

As an aside, any trip now to the bigger bodies in the Belgrades is a suicide mission. If we get significant snow on Tues. night / Wed. we are screwed. They lakes held, barely. Hoping it's light enough to blow off. For those of you that view this area as a destination spot, save your pennies until Feb.

No, waiting until we can get out over something deeper than 3' so he can get some practice / success on w.p, y.p. etc.
