Lincoln woods...
« on: Jan 07, 2016, 07:28 PM »
All locked up...about 2 1/2 inches around the shore with some week spots. I wouldn't venture out very far yet. Hopefully it survives the weekend. Good luck and be safe.

Checked north cove for the guys asking me today...the edges were bad 1 inch to 2 inch. Know one out fishing. Could not get to the beach they had the road closed for construction. Sorry fellas I wouldn't try it. The spot I checked yesterday was across from north cove which always freezes first that is about 2 -2 1/2, I was with my dog. Dicks does have shiners too.

How far out did you go where it was 2 - 2 1/2 ? Just wondering if its possible to get out far enough to drill a small hole and drop a shiner or 2 in to get the itch out.
Just add water.

Wondering what you mean by "across from North Cove"? You mean near the first parking area you get to along the road right when you drive in from the Twin Rivers side? The shallow little cove? Otherwise I can't visualize how you would have accessed the rest of the pond if the beach section is closed...

15-20 feet? If you drive straight in to north cove...it would be on your left in the corner. Bring a buddy

If memory serves it is pretty shallow in there. Heck, I'll where a life jacket.

Thanks for the recon!

OK, after having gone and checked it out myself, I have to agree with ballbag. It is not there yet. 2 inches is pushing it in many spots

Thanks guys. Looks like another 2 week wait after this rain destroys it.
Just add water.

For anybody interested, I checked out another spot in Lincoln. Not far from olney pond. There is 2 to 3 inches of much more solid black ice then at Lincoln. Think I'm going to give it a shot in the a.m. Anybody who wants details shoot me a PM

Possibly some skim after last night. Temps pushing 40 today, followed by rain/wet snow tonight. With the warm weather Friday and Saturday, it will be undone again most likely. Temps for next week look a little better...

Checked it as good as I could I had my 1 year old in the truck and didn't want to fall in. About 95 % frozen with some open water looking out towards the boat launch from north cove. Chipped out a couple holes about 5 feet out and it was about 2 inches. The ice didn't look very good and know one was out. That joint is usually busy when safe. That's all I got for you guys.

Thanks for the report, Ballbag. With a few more days of cold temps it is possible somebody will get out there. Long range forecast is ugly, though. It could change, but the end of January and most of February are looking like a lot of days in the forties.  :'( :'( :'(

Thanks bob. I have been in Manville for 6 years and always wanted to try it out.

Will they bust you in the summer if you aren't fly fishing?
Supposedly fly only...
