New to jigging.
« on: Dec 01, 2015, 01:05 PM »
This is a collection of tackle I've been picking up the last few years. I've mostly just fished tip-ups and jig once in a blue moon.
Started using Jaw Jackers last season and would like to get more into jigging.
Is this enough to get me started.

Make sure none of the jigs are lead... Not legal in MA! What do you plan to jig for?

The top 2 pictures would be more for game fish, ie walleyes, pike. The bottom 2 pictures for panfish like bluegills, perch, crappies.

The lead ones have to be removed. Would like to trade them for some lead free ones. I'll have to go through them.
As for what I'll be going for. Mostly likely a little bit of everything. Mostly crappie and perch. Possibly bluegill here and there.

I've got at the moment for jigging:
23" Fenwick HMG ultra light /ECILIRAS reel with 2lb suffix ice line.
26" Fenwick HMG med.light / #8 CGI reel with 6lb suffix ice line.

I used these with my JJ's and AF last season. All leaders are pretied. I swap out from 10lb to 20lb depending on what's around.
For the Automatic Fisherman:
33" AF med. hvy / AF spinning reel with 20lb Glacier Blue suffix ice braid 18" 20lb fluoro leader.
26" Frabill light / Frabill spinning reel with 10lb White suffix ice braid 18" 10lb fluoro leader
24" Ice Blues med / Berkley spinning reel with 10lb Neon Fire suffix ice braid 18" 10lb fluoro leader
For the Jaw Jackers
30" GX2 Ugly Stick med. hvy /13 fishing tear drop reel with 20lb Neon Fire suffix ice briad 18" 20lb fluoro leader
28" GX2 Ugly Stick med. /13 fishing Black Betty reel with 20lb Neon Lime suffix ice braid 18" 20lb fluoro leader
28" GX2 Ugly Stick med. /#8 CGI reel with 20lb Neon Fire suffix fusion ice braid 18" 20lb fluoro leader
24" Ice Blues med. baitcaster combo with 20lb Neon Lime suffix ice braid 18" 20lb fluoro leader
24" Ice Blues med./ Wally Marshal bait caster reel with 20lb Neon Lime suffix ice braid 18" fluoro leader

Thanks for you comments and input.

Looks good.  With everything pictured you should be able to catch about anything under the ice.  Good luck!
