Is this the type of thing you are looking for?

I have been  using one of these moose carriers on my sled for the last 3 seasons.  I have a rack on the back of my sled and use ubolts and wing nuts so that I can easily remove the carrier if I do not want it on the back.  I it made to fit on a moose 4wheeler rack but works nice on my sled.

I do not have a good pic with the auger in the carrier but you get the idea from the pictures below.  I use a easily adjustable pull strap to keep in the tube.

There was a fella in Manchester whom made them, he no longer in business.......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njEHW0L22b0 however Jeff from JNB may be able to help you further ;)  Here are the designs plans, in detail, should you wish to construct one however I'd suggest some modifications as there is a patent on it>>> http://www.google.com/patents/US6681470

Also the website to APlaser manufacture of the Auger Sidekick>>>http://www.aplaser.com/augersidekick/

Didn't Scott get rid of the 4-wheeler and go with a sled for this year?  He may have the rack still.

I have one of those attached to my Polaris Ranger and it's great!! As dispy stated, the person who made them is no longer making them and hasn't in a number of years now. He said he couldn't charge enough and was losing money on them. They are very well made with a lot of handmade parts. Nothing from China on this thing and should last forever!

Anyway, I have seen a couple for sale over the years on craigslist. One in Maine and one in Wisconsin but both on Craigslist. Can't hurt to keep checking...

Good Luck!

Dan

Tony, you may wish to expand your search to the agricultural area as many ranchers use augers to drill fence posts as well...of note I did locate 4 of them on Ebay for sale around $170..........just a thought :)

I'm looking for one like Scott and Big Jims... The actual auger caddy holds the auger upright, you pull a pin, auger sides down on guides, you drill a hole...and it slide Aho and locks into place. It mounts into your atv's receiver hitch. But thank you Sinnian! Let's get together and fish this winter

Sorry guys, mine is not for sale. I will be using the Sled and ATV this year. Big Jim also isn't selling his, although not sure why he even has one as I end up drilling all the holes anyways :-)

With all these 40-50 degree temps, we have nothing to worry about anytime soon anyways!

Lol! I had one and sold my wheeler then it sat in my garage for 2 years. I gave it to a guy last year. They are nice.

No prize for me, they raffled off my prize to anyone who wanted to put in for it. They gave my tickets after being downgraded to weaker accommodations  to James. How was the race James? Did they give you the tickets?

As an FYI...this is the Auger Caddy that Henry is looking for:

I see others mentioning contraptions that will carry an Auger, but this setup makes it functional on the machine.

So my neighbor is looking to produce what was formerly know as the Auger Caddy.  In fact he borrowed Scott's to reverse engineer it.  The maker applied for a patent, but never fell through.

Problem is exactly why the original manufacturer stopped making them.  They are expensive to make AND ship.

So I am trying to gauge what the interest still may be for this.  It is looking like $400 to make with materials and labor (which could go down depending on how many they make), plus around $100 to ship.  There are some modifications to make this better based on what he knows about engineering, and what Scott has described of his use.

Of course they would sell for more than the $400, because let's face it they want to make money.  At what price do you think the auger caddy goes from need to niche?

Thanks for any feedback!
