Starting to get real scared now.Looking more like 2011-2012 winter to me.Got out on January 3 on 4 inches.We might not even have that this year.

listen fillet i have seen some ponds and streams freeze already, that being said i don't see big lakes freezing at least til new years, 40's late week and weekend

Its gotta suck being an ice fisherman from Indiana or Ohio with this mild weather, at least we can go north without having to purchase an extra license.

The geese were flying north this pm, not sure what that means. Deer arent showing up to get shot, and I guess I cant blame them. All I want for Christmas, is an arctic blast, and maybe a polar vortex.

I will be on ice this year, just have to take a road trip to do so. North Central Lower is always consistent for 1st ice. Buddlakemusky, not sure how far you travel from your location but you should never have a problem finding ice early on close by. The town of Leota is always consistent for having cold weather in December.

Drove up to fife lake during that crappy winter a few years back, only got to fish for a couple hours, but it was still worth it, also familiarized myself with the general area. At first I planned to fish Houghton, but didnt know where to start, so headed west towards cadillac, and ended up at fife lake. Had a bald eagle fly right down into the road in the Manistee National Forest, which was pretty cool, as I dont see them down here in Howell. Always wanted to go back up in that area and get a motel and icefish for a couple days, gas prices are down and I get tired of the same scenery all the time anyways. Point is, ice fishing is ice fishing, dont let a mild winter in the south part of the state stop you. Used to have to go up north back when I snow skied for better hills and better conditions. Hopefully these weather people turn out to be a bunch of quacks.

No ice up here guys (Antrim County & Charlevoix County), except for some skim ice on farm ponds. There's no way Torch Lake is freezing over this year.

A guy on Facebook just said west Michigan is lucky to get ice by the end of January if at all. I feel like some winters are better than others but no ice? I feel like that's almost unrealistic.

budd lake in harrison have ice in the coves, the lake is ready to freeze but the damn weather won't cooperate, i bet the water temp is in a good range just need a long cold front and she'll go over quickly

Hey guys send some cold air east! About wore to paint off my jigs arranging them! No deer here either, at least on the mountain. Went to the local sporting goods store where they weigh in just to see what they look like. Guy brought in a deer in and d gave it to me. Wow. Gonna put a stand up there next year. Can,t imagine not liking to eat venison.

The long term states above freezing temps till end of January. it ain't happening this year guys $:-\$ Sorry, I'm not an optimist. We've been damn lucky the last two. Time for a warm one.
