These jig boxes by Rose Creek(Blue Ones) are the best I've ever seen. You can secure jigs either way as you can see. You can see all the colors on the jigs top or bottom. This year I have committed to trying jigging more as I have never had much luck. Got a showdown duel beam so maybe I can figure out the secret!!!

Thanks Ron, I just got to get out with someone who jigs. I've been ice fishing over 30 years but  never thought about jigging till I started reading here 2 years ago. Jigged a lot of trout when I lived in CT. at Crystal Lake but really want to turn it up for pannies and bass.

My best producer is a hook with some wire wrapped around it that I painted with glow in the dark nail polish. I store it tied to the end of my line.

I like the cheaters (glasses) in the box! If you can't tie them on, none of them are any good! Let me know when you are want to fish together and I will be happy to show you what I know about jigging...

I would love to hook up some time and fish. I am retired from corrections and live in Charlton Ma. but will travel anywhere to learn. Been tip-up  fishing over 30 years but this is a whole new aspect of the sport for me. Thanks Stripernut, I will jump on that as soon as we get ice.

I jigged on and off for decades and never really did that good. Bought the Showdown 4 years ago, a world of difference. I actually catch a lot of fish  ;D

I also have the Showdown duel beam and love it. I think my problem is with tip-ups out I am sometimes to lazy to pick them all up and leave to try another place.

I also fish tip ups, when I was younger I would carry binoculars so I could watch for a flag when jigging... I try not to do that as much any more, but... Think of it more like micro structure, some days just a few feet can make all the difference... I also move my tip ups a great deal if they are not producing, so it is like hopscotch around a lake if the fish are not found... I try to move my tilts every 45 Min. if it is not happening and most of the time I only jig a hole for about 3 min (though I will come back and fish it again)... That said there are days when I am lazy and fish everything longer... For me there is little eating or socializing, no time, its go, go, go... That is not a type of fishing every one likes, but it often produces results.

wow, not much time. sometimes I have seen it take a couple of hours for a fish to move 15' to take a shiner. I used to set my tilts waaaaay apart when 'younger'. not anymore

Most of our best action (and many others) come from "Hot" holes; you find the right spot and sometime you don't have time to jig... That same hot hole will often produce well for a season or more. I have also seen when a hole right next to (with in 3') of the hot hole won't produce a thing... One trip on Onota Lake years ago I had a great day with pike and bass (small and large mouth), all from one hole, I cut 4 holes around it, all about 4' away and did not get a thing in them. I changed the tilt (in the hot hole), burned through shiners, did not matter, but the hot hole kept producing... Wish I had had a sounder or camera back then... When I am doing seminars on ice fishing I ask; how many people (if they have a boat) anchor up and only cast to one spot all day? This gets a good laugh and then I ask how many of you do that ice fishing? Not as many laughs... For me I will keep "casting" until I find fish, but then again, I am not much for bait fishing in the summer either.

Nice collection. You have more than you need to catch a lot of great fish with that. If you need company let me know. I have been jigging with a flasher for a few winters now and figured a couple of helpful things out.
Cheers,

Pete
