Insulated battery box
« on: Nov 23, 2015, 09:57 AM »

Ok so here is a battery box that I made for my 1 man flip. I have lights on the box for walking or unloading out of the truck.  And another switch that operates my lights when I get in my flip over. All I have to do is put my clip on that bolt on the top of my battery box and I can then operate them via the switch.

Hopefully this gives some people an idea to keep there battery warm and easily accessible.

Thanks for looking.

I 'Red Greened' an insulated box last year but found I didn't really need it. The batt was OK all day cold---mind you, I was just running my FF, no lights.
Keep yer stick on the ice!

NOTE- most batterys will lose about 50% of their power when real COLD[AGE of battery and air temp.

Oh yeah. I also have a spot to put a hand warmer in there as well to keep it extra warm ;D.

Well worth it.

Cost under 50 to make the box and rig up all the lights in my flip over.
And for the most part it's maintenance free

My next project is rigging something up to keep the battery in my marcum lx6 warmer. Haven't figured it out yet

That's normally what I do but I think I'm going to build a fiberglass box to hold my battery and transducer in and mount my screen on top of the box. And insulate it with the foam like my other battery.

Maybe a good weekend project before we get ice.

Keeping your battery warm makes a 100% difference in battery life.

I have brackets in my sled. Was gonna wrap battery with that silver thin insulation.  Reflectix or something I think its called. Maybe slide a small hand warmer in if 20 below. Ive seen some guys use this in shanties and on batteries.  Anyone here try that stuff?

my buddy has it in the back of his shack to help the heat stay towards the front and not escape, and it works great.

As far as the battery goes, I would assume it would help but i can't be certain.
