Best Flouro?
« on: Nov 18, 2015, 05:22 PM »
Hi All, glad to see others checkin in. I thought I was too early. My question, is what is your go-to flouro for a leader that wont freeze? I used power braid at Winchester in 14 degree weather last season and it was a mess. I use berk flouro in summer but don't know if itll stand up. Any help is great.

I'm a fan of Seaguar but whatever you choose be sure you use leader material. The regular fluoro line won't hold up as leader material.

at most we are talking about 4 to 6' of leader material,on tip ups,Any line in those temps can freeze up. lets hope we have this problem. The fluoro leader material is much better than reg fluoro line, it does not have such a memory

Using a "casting" flouro works for many anglers, I like the stiffness and abrasion resistance of Leader Material. No right or wrong, just what each of us likes...

Thanks guys! Seaguar it is! I used a drop shot rig on my tip ups at Winch last year and cant wait to try this line on it. I found the drop shot kept the bait just on or above the veg. It worked great there. UUUhgg! the ice cant come fast enough!

Cabelas....it is white labeled Seaguar without some of the cost shaved off.  Look closely at the label you'll see seaguar's name on it.  Same deal sort of deal with their shanties...clam makes em.

The power pro ice is made to help not deal with line freeze-up. I used it all last year with no problems and I dead stick alot and still no freeze up.
A bad day of ice fishing is better than any day at work!
