Almost there
« on: Nov 15, 2015, 10:13 PM »
Went to a small lake up north this weekend had open water and ice gear not knowing what to expect. Lake was froze over had 2 1/2 to 3 inches for first thirty feet of shore line and tapered after that. Too little ice to be safe and too much ice for a boat. Cooler temps coming will check again next week.

We've had a crazy warm fall too, last year on this date had 8" of clear ice at my hole.  Funny thing though, you are further north then the majority of Canadians!

Soon time to test the walk on sleds and gear on the smaller body's of water but with with the fresh snow? .Long range forecast now calls for colder temps  in the New Year. Who knows? LOL no one!so get ready for anything. The El Nino now called a Super El Nino that's really effecting the jet stream so the only certain thing is get ready for more rollercoaster temps and big winds between the temp swings. Extreme caution needed this time of the year, PFD's ice spikes, mandatory for this early ice. Fish safe.

Looks like another round of warm temps for a bit,  maybe a good time to head North for a look at the ice on the lakes up along the Hanson and check to see if any unwanted activity around  the Cabin since last visit. Fish safe.
