Although, last year's early arctic plunge will be difficult to beat. I was on the ice on Nov 13th at both Sloan's and Absarracca. I hit Granite on the 20th! It was the earliest start to an ice fishing season ever for me.

This is my second winter in Cheyenne. Was last year's deep freeze in November usual? What is the average date for safe ice in Southeast Wyoming?

it varies from year to year but we usually get good ice by thanksgiving sometimes earlier

Dirty I'm pretty sure you mean adequate ice and if we are very lucky that ice will be adequate through January. Sometimes seems like fishing first ice all season long! Have travelled many a mile in SE Wyoming looking for an adequate 3" of ice to venture on..........

I think we will where I am. It froze hard and snowed last night according to weather underground it got down to 7. All of the little ponds and sloughs are frozen. It also says that in the next 10 days the highest it is supposed to get is 36 and the lowest is 9 so that is good ice forming weather as long as the wind doesn't blow too hard.

I ve gone thru my stuff twice. Spt WH had half of there ice fishing stuff out yesterday in Riverdale UT, nothing new to buy. I have been looking at the new Eskimo Evo crossover shelter online, sure would like to see one in person

When ice was forming on my fly rod this evening and ice was coating my waders after I got out of the water, I thought to myself that it won't be very long before we are on the ice!

Just looked at the web cam for Owen, and there is a little ice forming.

Hope in the inlet to granite has fish-able ice in a few weeks. That is usually the first place around Cheyenne to have fish-able ice. Can't wait!

haha yes Mike. We talk different down south.

As far as the bait tank goes....we seined just enough for the 2 of us. It's too much work to keep 4 deep freezers full of minnows all winter then not use them all.
