Lots of rainbow fishing in the valley area lakes.  Pike fishing  can be good across the sue, but you will need a snow machine.  This site is pretty slow right now, but it will pick up soon.
If you wantah be a fishah you gotah smoke a swishah!

Welcome to Alaska - I was just in Idaho this month for a few days in Emmett visiting my daughter.

The threads here provide a great resource for ice fishing in Alaska. Be sure to check out the ADFG website stocking reports and lake maps also.

Welcome to Alaska bowhunter.  Moved up here myself 3 years ago now from Wisconsin and as you've seen, everyone out here is pretty genuine and always welcoming. There's a few shady characters though.......LOL.  Just kidding of course. :)  But all have been generous with sharing info and are some of the most passionate people I've met about their love of Alaska.  A few species up here you won't find though are panfish, walleye, bass etc.  But trust me, with all the trout, pike and salmon in these waters, you won't miss them for long.  Again welcome and good fishing.

Living in the valley one of my personal favorite things to do is randomly pick one of the many valley lakes and fish it till I figure it out. I will send you a pm with some decent places I found last year!

Pick up a copy of the highway angler icefishing Alaska by Gunnar Pedersen.
It will help you find a lot of lakes to try and what species they might have. Includes directions to the public access points.
