I know this lake is new, but are there any lake maps out yet for this lake?

I've heard that gills are 7.5ish max and crappie upto about 9-10 max. They should continue to pick up size relatively quickly

If you pull up the area in google earth and use the time adjust to scroll through the imagery from the last few years it will show all the brush piles, rock piles, humps, culverts, etc that were added by the dnr. You can mark those spots with waypoints, export the gpx file and then send those coordinates to a fish finder or handheld gps

There are over 150 points of interest on the lake for fishing structure

should be an interesting year with it all open.  gills last year were all almost keeping size for me.  lots of 6.5-7.5" gills to be had.   crappies ranged from 8-10" mostly.  a few bigger ones in there here or there.   but that was just on the west feeder pond.  the whole thing being open is going to be bananas ice fishing.  so much cover/brush.

I'm gonna try and make it to this pond. From what I've seen on the dnr site it looks like a fish haven.

Thanks again for the info on Lost Grove it's greatly appreciated. Looks like we'll have to wait a couple more years on the eyes.

Thanks, Matzilla, for the thorough info on this new lake. A neighbor of mine has been there a few times and says he caught a lot of fish, but on the small side. He said it was 99 miles from his house. We live in Spring Valley, IL.
The lake really seems to have great potential. I remember when Lake Carlton in Morrison, IL opened to the public. Fish numbers and size were great for a few years until word spread and hundreds of people took large numbers of big fish. It is still a decent place to fish, but nothing to write home about. I guess time will tell with Lost Grove.
Anyway, thanks again for the info and good luck fishin' ...

   Ken
