gettin' chilly!
« on: Oct 13, 2015, 11:35 AM »
supposed to get down into the high 30s next week down here in southern Idaho. with any luck, we'll be on the ice by december!

any plans yet for what you're gonna target on your first trip out? personally, i'm gonna shoot for some big rainbows. hoping to get some friends into some really big fish.

Yesterday I was north of Idaho City a few miles and it was hovering around 33 degrees and snowing on and off. Not as cold as we need, but it was enough to get me excited either way!

went out duck hunting yesterday (didn't get anything-way too much of a bluebird day) plenty of the canals and ponds had skim ice across them in the morning, one even had about 3/8" of ice!

Had a half inch of ice on my pond last week but it melted that afternoon.  ;D Boy I hope we get some early thick ice.

it snowed for a while yesterday, got real excited. then the sun came out for an hour and melted it all away. :( (but we're getting closer!)

13 degrees outside at 6pm supposed to get to -5 tonight I am sure the outlet has safe ice on Henry's lake . With all the snow and wind yesterday , I am sure you would need a snowmachine to get to safe ice . Maybe 4x4 chained up ?

Blanchard lake up here is frozen solid  (kind of mix feelings about it cause one I was hoping to waterfowl hunt there and 2 means hayden might freeze soon too and that means pike here I come)

Yeah but if you want big bluegills and jumbo perch I would go to Avondale  (less then a half mile from hayden )
