I can see that not being good for Illinois... but for a New Englander like me "not as brutal" is a good thing, last year was kinda rough for us.

accuweather pretty much nailed it last year. Doesn't look too bad for us in PA. Last year it was a bit rough and we ended up with almost 2 ft of ice on the lakes. If we only get a foot of ice I'll be good with that  ;D  Just as long as we don't go back and forth with snow and rain.

Farmers Almanac Shows a heavy Snow year.
Did you guy's have a lot of Crickets this year? That is another sign the weather is going to be bad in the Winter.  I haven't seen so many Crickets in my area in a long long time.

I'll take some mild weather, sure beats -20°f to -30°f for a month straight in mid winter.

Yeah, I hope it's wrong. Supposed to be above normal in my area early this winter. Just bought an Ion I'm itching to try out and don't want to wait until January.

Less ice to drill through. Just hope the freeze isn't too much later.

If the abundance of apples and acorns have anything to do with a long hard winter, Upstate NY should have good ice till around oh, May or June?    ;D
