Last year I went out on three inches of ice on the 20th of November.  Every chip of the spud bar cracked the ice all around me.  Needless to say I only made one hole. LOL

We have the luxury of elevation. The lakes at 12,000 ft will be frozen by early october.  You really hafta WANT to get up there though.

I've spent all summer going after trout on small mountain streams.  I might wait until after October to get on the ice this year and focus on some other species.  Switching it up this year.  Last year, second week of November

Last yr I didn't get on ice in oct😡
1) I wasn't in good enough shape (so they and doctor tells me) last yr for 1200'-1300' plus high lakes
2) I didn't know where to go in Colorado
3) the ice report wasn't the best at the end of October.
4) this yr. I am ready to make that trip from KC
  This yr👍 I am down 40+ lbs and still dropping and running 5 to 10 miles a day 4 times a wk. By the end of October. My goal is to be down 60lbs. my goal has alway been to get on ice in October!!! Life is short, I guess if you want to do something u have to get off your butt tock and make it happen. So after my first 5k run. I am hoping for ice in Oct. "if it's meant to be".... it will happen. If the weather doesn't work out this yr. I will be more ready then ever the next follow yr👍 But glass is half full for this yr.
  Funny how when your wife nags at you about your wieght it goes though one ear and out the the other.but when you talk ice fishing (knowing that the sport you love and can't wait til it start) Can all be over & done for in a blink of an eye. Just one health issue away........So I will be ready this yr😉

GB 83...Here's hoping we have an early ice this year.
Last winter was a disaster as far as the temps were concerned. Best of luck getting out this winter, and as always...Good Icing!
