Ice auger
« on: Jul 26, 2015, 10:28 PM »
Saw an 8" post hole digger at Home Desperate last week and it got me thinkin the powerhead is 209.00. I bought a Tanaka last year or I would try it out it has a 30 day warranty coupled with HD return policy it might be worth a shot.

Copied directly from it's detail section:

Ice auger conversion capable  No

It turns at 30:1.  Might be a bit slow drilling on the ice.

Also probably turns the wrong direction....

I took a look at the auger bits and they look like they would be going in the same direction as an ice auger, don't know if the spindle is a different diameter or something. It turns at 9500 rpm so it would be plenty fast. It could be worth checking the diameter, maybe an adapter extension would make it work. something to check out next time I stop in.

Every dirt auger I have checked out turns opposite of an ice auger and much slower.
Take your kids hunting and fishing!
