Calamus Lake
« on: Jul 01, 2015, 12:58 PM »
Does anyone have any reports for how the bit is at Calamus? I asked on NEFGA and got a few replies but I'm looking to get as much info as I can so I can actually catch some fish this year.

On a hardwater note, does anyone have any info on fishing it through the ice? I've been wanting to go out there and give it a try but I've heard that it can be rough on your auger with the sand in the ice and it can be scary since the ice is fluctuating a lot. I think that if I get a chance this year I might give it a try but I was wondering if anyone had info as to which areas are the safest through the ice? Valley View? Gracie Creek area?

Can't give much info but keep in touch and we'll see if we can't get together over there, I have a friend that lives right on the lake that ice fishes.

Will do! I want to hit it up at least once through the ice this year if I get the chance!! That lake is probably one of the coolest lakes I've been to. I just like the sandy beaches and the hills in the area.

I have sure seen some pics on my buddy's facebook page of some dandy walleye from Calamus. Unfortunately I don't know that lake at all and he will never share his spots. So, doesn't do alot of good other than they are biting somewhere there.

Haha yeah fishermen need to keep their secrets so that's understandable. U have a few spots I marked on a map I want to try and I think I have an idea of what baits to use. It's going to be a lot of trial and error to find fish though.
