Wax on line
« on: Jun 26, 2015, 10:16 PM »
Pry a dumb question but has anyone tried to put wax on like the last 20ft of line and even the guides to help freeze up? Depending on how deep you normally fish maybe more or less. I have some collinite wax that is liquid i use on vehicles and got me thinking as i use it for many things like windows on house to my golf clubs. Stuff is crazy durable! I may try and do a test on waxed line compared to non waxed. Is this the same idea that reel magic offers? Forgot to mention this idea is mainly based on braid line as thats what i use.

Reel magic is not a wax. It dissolves plastics and then attracts dust.  Its more like WD40.

KVD Line and Lure conditioner is more like a wax.  It leaves a light slick coating on.

Personally I think wax will help.  But like everything that gets rubbed off, it is only temporary.  In addition when the temps are well into subfreezing, water is gonna freeze so fast, it's like hot water turning into snow when tossed into air.

I'm thinking of a Teflon silicone spray on for the ice auger and see how that works out come next ice.
