New gear for next year
« on: Apr 28, 2015, 02:53 AM »
What new gear are you planning to buy for the upcoming season.  So far on my list is a bait caster reel and a Striker suit if I can get a good deal on one.

Probably a 6x6 pop-up shanty. The small Ontario style shanty I built last summer worked great, but it's a little bulky for the back of my SUV.

I'll have lots less gear for next year. Big garage sale coming up. Time to trim the collection.

The sensitive tip made of the bamboo.
That's an item indispensable to pond smelt fishing.

I bought a brand new Jiffy 30XT in Janurary, then picked up a month old StrikeMaster Chipper Magnum after ice out. Going to sell the Jiffy.

Going to cash in some PTO in July and buy a FLX28.
See you on the ice!

I'm going to building a pair of custom rods and deck them out with new spinning reels. I was thinking of getting a camera but not sure I want to spend the money just yet - if not I'll get a nice pair of bibs

I just came across some small jigs , plastics and a Lindy Perch talker that I misplaced at the beginning of the season ...so those will be my first go to items . As for Striker Ice suits Red Rock Wilderness store is updating their website ...they had some deals/clearance last spring/summer ... I am sure they will again before the "new' versions come out . I did get a new aqua Vu camera last season ...so unless some new gotta have it item comes out I think I am set . Who am I kidding I am sure to spend a $ 100 bucks in lures and do dads before the first hole is even drilled for the 2015/2016 season.

I need some maggots.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

A nice pair of bibs and possibly a shelter are my thoughts as of now.  Gotta get my sled built too.

I've already received a couple long ice slammer rods and set them up with some 30 sized reels. The guides are larger than my other rods, so looking forward to using them!

The big change for next season will be an enclosed snowmobile trailer. Ever since I saw a guy unload his machine and sleigh in a fraction or the time it takes me with an open trailer, I've wanted to upgrade.

I've been looking at these also. I almost bought a SM lithium electric last season and now there's a sign at the customer service desk at Cabela's saying there's a recall on them. Good thing I didn't jump. The Ions just look really good, and I've heard good things.

I'm looking to get a Clam Bigfoot XL4000t.  Was hoping I could find one at the end of the season for a good price, but everywhere was sold out.  Waiting for Black Friday deals now...

Looking at flashers, probably gonna go with the Marcum vx1 pro.

Should add your location to your profile . Otter Outdoors makes some great sleds to tote your gear .

I didn't get to use mine nearly as much as I would have liked last year but the 25 holes or so that I did bore awesome, I highly recommend buying one. The Ion had as much zing as my Solo auger. When I finally got around to using it we had about 30" of ice and the Ion literally ripped right through it. I can't wait to use it this year, I may be selling the Solo.

I do want to buy a spare battery for it for the times I have an extended stay. Also some of my fishing is on some very remote lakes where you just want to have your basses covered.
