Skandic II 377R
« on: Apr 21, 2015, 07:25 PM »
I just picked up a 1993 skandic.  Unfortunately there wasn't enough snow to go riding before the end of the season.  Is there anything you can tell me about this type of sled and any mods that you may have done to improve this sled's performance or use as a fishing machine.  Any info is appreciated.

Great sled, had one for years and then upgrade to a 503 skandic.

I added ski skins to mine to add floatation, as well as 'ice scratchers' for late season security of the sliders.

The 377 is a bullet proof engine, but, I needed more power for the loads I was hauling.

Congrats on your find/purchase -- can be difficult to find good ones these days.

Thanks. I also picked up a 1992.  They both needed a bit of work to get them going, but 'I know a guy'.  Can't wait to try them next season.

Just curious, what was the speed of a sled this size.  I'm assuming it will do 50 mph but that would probably be pushing it.

Not the Sexyist, Not the Fastest, Engine is Bullet Proof and will haul more than any other Sled of equal cc's.  Youtube is your friend, enjoy/

they're good sleds but can get tricky to start in -0f weather. if you over prime they tend to flood. i had a 89' w/ the 377. once you figure out how to start it you'll be ok. above 0 it isn't as tempermental. congrats on your sled!

It keeps blowing headlights. Voltage regulator was changed. Are there any other reasons why this lead would be having these voltage surging issues?

Bad voltage regulator. Could be the replacement is bad or is the wrong part. I had that with one on my polaris.. could also be corrooded wires/conectors.

Make sure the ground for the regulator is good and clean.  Changed many a "bad" voltage regulator only to find it was a bad ground. :P
