Seems the fish have been biting well  the last couple of weeks ?
Do they bite better at the last of it...first ice seems pretty good too ?

In my opinion, early ice and late ice almost always beat mid-season ice.

I agree, seems like most of my skunks come in the long month of Feb. Usually target the warm water fish then.

Over the years I have found that winters with a solid snow cover that does not allow sunlight to penetrate the body of water the action slows down  Drastically ,  On small ponds sunlight to the plant life is the big source of oxygen, when that happens the process reverses .
