Lost a friend today
« on: Apr 08, 2015, 07:48 PM »
End of the line for my friend today. Cancer ate him up. Lifetime fisher and hunter, never had a bad word to say. Way better man than I'll ever be. Haven't been able to wet a line with him since April 13 2013 because of the cancer. Gonna miss him

i can relate. i lost my best fishing buddy of 19 years and we would fish 8-10 hour days day after day, almost every day. it has been only 4years ago now. he was telling me i had to find a new fishing buddy before he passed as we were still fishing for another year or so.
i bought a nicer boat so he would be safer in it. i'd call him to ask if he wanted to go fishing and he would always say do bears sleep in the woods?!
he is a medal of honor ww2 vet. diabetes caught him.

i quit fishing too for 2 years after. i miss my friends that have went on to a better place and i know they will be greeting me one day again.

so sorry for your loss and pain.
time makes it easier to do what you like to do.

Very sorry to hear that.  My father who's been gone for awhile now (cancer) duck hunted Saskatoon over 40 years ago and truly loved it.  Good group of folks up there.  My only lame suggestion would be to instill that appreciation of the outdoor experience forward to a kid who may not otherwise experience it.  Very sorry for your loss.

I feel for you. Loosing long time friends is never easy.

I spent a half hour on the phone last night with my life long hunting and fishing buddy talking old times. We try to touch base once a week as at our age we never know when it will be our time.

I lost my best friend, hunting and fishing partner at 54 yrs old.  I know how you feel.  Just keep going, hunt and fish with friends.  "Low and be hold" someone will arise from the crowd and be your new partner as it did for me.
