I see what you're getting at, Woodchip.  That's good information.

Snopro's intention is to build a large raft that will not be directly powered by anything, but can be towed by another craft and anchored.  It will be much like the swim platforms that people who own water frontage use.  It will not have to be registered because it won't be powered, as I understand it.

As he tells it, he'll put it out on whatever body of water tickles his fancy and pull it off at the end of the weekend.  It'll be much like overnighting in a boat with a cabin but on quasi-pontoons.

It sounds like a fun build.  I'll do my best to be on hand for the construction and will try to get some pictures of the stages.

My only thoughts are if it needs to be dragged over frozen ice , Heavier poly will wear and steer  better. Barrels are great but a lot thinner and formation will not allow to steer over snow, ice, A couple of discarded Kayaks filled with foam and sealed would make a great base. Live year round and motorize .

I like the kayak idea a lot.  I don't think that he intends to use the float portion of this contraption during hardwater season.  He's just looking for a means of floating his shack during the softwater season.  If you've ever seen it, you understand.  It's pretty posh for

an ice shack and is probably his favorite place to be, other than atop his loader in -20 degrees this winter (that should give you some insight into his level of sanity).

I built an 8x8 float for out front at  camp for kids swim float . A storm broke it off its mooring  and I never saw it again . Reported it to the warden service and Forestry  dept.  two years ago never heard a thing. Had the black square floatation floats , Its probably in someone back yard or up on Chesuncook shore some where . $1000,00 gone .

Have some life jackets,  a throw ring, with a long rope on it  and a slipper extinguisher. . Ron might need them   :woot:
