Back to Back Trout (pics)

i very thankful to have such great friends and family who i get to share my fishing experiences with ...

southern Manitoba fishing is closed for the season till mid may ..  but ...  Trout fishing is open year round ..

we heading to one of our favorite trout area's ...the parkland's .. this area is huge and offer's wild amounts of trout ponds and lakes

my personal mission was to capture one more Manitoba Master Angler Brown trout to nail down my specialist Badge ..  COMPLETED ..

My good friend Dave , his dad and his little boy  , headed out ...

now a days every house hold has technology issues ,   everyone's on their phone's,, computer's and we just can't keep our eye off them ..

Dave discovered his little boy was playing  with his ipad  the whole  ride out and not taking time to enjoy the scenery of manitoba outside the truck ride and/or take a break for a nap ..

so like a father should do ,  he took the ipad away and laid down a few rules ..  since we were on a fishing trip , the rule is .. "you get the ipad back " once you either nap for a bit .

or once we get to the lake , you need to catch a fish first ... then you can have the ipad back....  little guy agreed with some issues ..

we got to the lake and set up .  tell you what...  Dave's son was set on catching a fish so he could get his ipad back ...  i have never seen a kid catch a fish so quick .. 30 seconds and he hooked into a 19.5" Rainbow trout ..  just shy of a master ...  i forgot my fish stretcher at home...  next time Logan ....   a deal is a deal ... i pad was returned ...

we had a blast... the trout were just hungry for bug looking lures and flashy small spoons ,,  we caught fish after fish for hours ,  double headers , a rod got pulled in ..
diving slides to grab near pull in on dead sticks
blah blah blah.. list goes on     GOODTIMES..  .,

2ND TRIP

me and blue igoo teamed up for second trip ... same area ,

Mission was to get Brown Trout for Ron Specialist Badge

we tried area where the structure of the lake seem to attract the brown trout ...

weather was cooler than normal ..  seem cold front shut off brown trout .   but the Rainbow trout were just fierce and hungry .  (13-16" range)
we caught 30-40  rainbows with a few monsters spiting the hook ,  landed on nice 24" rainbow

bug looking lures seem to trigger bites , add alittle trout scent ..   fish on!

we also witnessed on our flashers ,  trout would seem just to hang around us all day , circle and circle but just wouldn't bite .
me and Ron's eyes are just all buggered up from staring at this trout flasher action all day

Goodtime

Long days in the Parklands …..but good times! The weather this year played havoc with many of my planned outings but still managed to squeak in 17 memorable trips. Thank you to my friends that shared those times with me. My ice fishing season is now officially over. It's time to get back to my house renovations and landscaping.  ::) Now, where are my golf clubs  ;D
Until next season……..stay safe and I'll see you all here again  @)
