Islands Report: Last time out

Headed out for the last time yesterday after school. We were hoping to get into some good panfish and we did. Ended up with about a half pail of big seeds and two crappies between the two of us after fishing from 4:30 - around 7. The ice was fairly thick, but it won't take much for it to disappear. Lot's of 8-10 inch fish! My largest was a 10 incher and my Dad's was a 9.75 incher. Here's some pics of our catch. It was a beautiful day and the fish were biting good. My fish are on the left and my Dad's are on the right w/ the biggest one of the day in the middle.
Here's a picture of my biggest one. Thinking of mounting this fish instead of my 11.5 inch perch from the earlier this season. I was super excited to see her come up the hole. Only one of the day that stripped drag other than a small LMB.
Perfect way to end the hard water season.

The Crappies were 9 inches each and I was sure excited to finally put a couple on the ice that were keepers. They certainly are cool looking fish. It was fun to watch them bite the bait with that paper thin mouth of theirs!

Nice haul! Great work again this weekend!
I've never eaten one of these fish, but they're supposed to be really good. Did you keep them to eat, or sell them?

Nice job, perchbait glad you guys got onto some fish, looks like a good haul. I've never caught a sunny or a crappy through the ice. Maybe you can put me on some next year

Sunfish are some of the better eating fish you can catch. Once I started to fish them, I never want to fish anything else.

Nice big sunnies!
Congrats on the crappies! Sure is satisfying to find those tricky fish, especially after trying and trying!
That was a great day for fishing-- pure paradise!

I'd be glad to put you on the fish next year wmhunts, and yes, seeds and gills are great to eat, but crappies are my personal favorite to eat.

Wow! PB, nice haul of my favorite fish! I have a grand daughter in Underhill who fishes with her good friend. They both love panfish and want to know where you find them??

It was a fun evening and we didn't freeze our
off for a change. It was cool being able to watch them hit, too. Watched a 16" bass suck in my tiny tungsten ... surprised me seeing that great big mouth all of a sudden! Time to hang up the ice rods and start getting the boat ready, though.
Dick, how old is your granddaughter? We're in Jericho so there's a chance that PB knows her if she's in high school.
