I don't have direct knowledge of the Rumford area, but the ice is fine in the Augusta area right now.  Rumford should be even better.

30+ inches on Sturtevant yesterday. I'll be on Roxbury tomorrow and expect to find about the same.

Sturtevant wasn't fun that day. There was an inch of fresh snow and lots of wind. Holes were filling in as fast as you could skim the slush. I quit after less than an hour with no flags and went to L.L.Cote's to check for end of season deals.

There were trucks on Bryant Pond today. About 2 feet of ice.

I'm hoping to get to Roxbury on Monday. I plan to pick and choose a good place to get on and off the ice. Once I get away from shore I expect to find safe ice, but things will be sloppy. Finding live bait might be a problem. I have frozen bait for the S-4 ponds, worms and a few mealworms. Even if I don't catch anything I'll spend a 60 degree day enjoying the views and quiet.

Over 20 inches thick with no slush. It should be safe for about one more week. I caught my first pumpkinseed sunfish which was my first sunfish through the ice.

How big was that pumpkinseed?  My buddy caught one yesterday and we almost kept it to give it a try.  Somebody posted recently that they are as good as crappie.  It was only four inches long or so I figured it wouldn't be worth it.

It wasn't big enough to be worth fileting. I thought about trying it but there would have been about four bites of meat. I've seen bigger pumpkinseeds from that pond.
