Chu opening pushed till May 2nd 😞😞

So I called DCR earlier today to ask a few questions about boating regulations for the Q.  While I was on the phone with them I asked about when they thought the Chu would be opening.  They said the date would probably be May 2nd because there is 30+" of ice in some of the areas that they checked (man I wish they would let us ice fish there).  Oh and it is still cheaper to rent a boat at the Q for a day than jump through all the hoops to put your boat in a few times.

Thats why guys have boats dedicated as a "Quabbin Boat". Otherwise its like u said, cheaper to rent.

That being said, if your close to it, there is no better fishing in the state than there by boat, except the salt. If u got a buddy with a boat, use one for the Q, the other for the Salt.

Wouldn't matter if you could ice fish the chu or Quabin. Maybe the open water talk should be on the open water site? Still plenty of ice out there to be had!

I like both places but its not the time or place for the open water talk yet. Still ice fishing. Doesn't matter because we will never ice fish them

Its April, i think its ok to begin the open water talks. Especially since any other normal year, guys would be fishing the Chu this weekend.

Theres also the option that if you dont like reading about open water, then dont lol.. The title of the thread is a clear indication for what its about.

Nope just restating what I said when you got me on the phone with it. And my memory not shot from the age. It's from the teens and 20's years.

Never been to the chu and will be taking my son up for the minute I opens.   I would not be able to take him if it was delayed that much. I fell hard for the af !!!   You are cruel!!!

Well I'll give you that all day everyday.  Some fish and catch, and you always can be a googan.  Some days I have trips where im the googan, specifically the ones where I'm learning new water.  Its a lighthearted term in the circle of surfcasters I fish with.

As we say in my office when a absent rep misses out in a hot lead. "You gotta be here"  I bet it Paul brought the sand blaster he'd get up. 

Also I was thinking we could bring a swivel chair and spin him in the opposite direction of the vertigo and BAM he's a new man!

I'd sleep there if he brought the sand blaster 😀   I like the idea of the swivel chair also that is one of the best ideas that I have heard.  Might bring it up to my Dr. 😁

I'll save you a spot, Ed's or Lava's.  Those deadbeats never beat me there!

I gotta say though Ed showed me a couple of spots last year that looked nice.  I did appreciate that Ed.  (granted all those spots were cursed and I don't think we saw a sign of life  )

I'll let you in on a secret that a guy showed me.  He caught a ton of bows in the 30 minutes he was there.  I caught none.  But he gave me a set up to use.
