Still 32 inchs of ice....
« on: Apr 01, 2015, 05:35 AM »
North  Central  Sask season   is   closed, Northern  Sask  still  has   2  weeks  of  fishing  season  left. ???

We  still  have  24-32 inchs  of   blue  ice on  most  lakes...most  lakes   have  very  little  snow  cover   so  there  is  no  insulation........next  weeks  forecast  is   minus  20s  at  night and  highs  of  minus  7  or  9   during  day  so  we   will  be  MAKING  ice   for  next  week....lol. :o

I  live  close  to  Manitoba  border  so  I  can  fish  right  until  April  30th. ;D ;D  ;D

Manitoba general closure was yesterday in the South and I finished it off with two days and an overnighter Monday/Tuesday with a bunch of walleye and burbot :).  There was still 40" of clear ice with 6 - 8" candling on the top.  Shoreline was getting a little soggy due to some rain.

I'll be heading North or fishing for trout over the next few weeks as that season doesn't close.

What do they pay electricians up your way?

Depends... base  rate  is  low.  $35.

But  there  are  bonuses...that  can  be  quite  a  bit...also  O.T.

I  am  up  to  45,000   this  year  allready,  but  making  decent  production  bonus  (underground mining)and  a  fair  bit  of  overtime.

Last  4  years  i  made   140k,130k,128k,120k, will  probably  make  150k  this  year.

With those pay rates it might be time for a career change although I don't think I can convince my wife to move let alone immigrate to another country.

Those  numbers  are  deceiving....

We  are  taxed   to near  death  in  Canada....

40 k  per  year  income  tax.

4k per  year  employement  insurance, and  Canada  pension  plan.

Provincial  and  federal  sales  tax  usually  runs  average  of  10%.

2.5  K  property  tax.

$4  per  gallon  gas....mostly  tax.

1 pack  of  cigs  $10.

$20 per  dozen beer.

I live in Taxachusetts oh wait Massachusetts.  I get taxed to hell and back.

They take 1/3 of my pay in taxes.

Our sales tax is 6.5%

I own a 1200sqft home on 1/2 acre of land and I am paying $3500/yr

My town owns the Utility company so they stick it to us as good as the can.  Most of the other towns you can pick your provider.  They also cut a deal with a cable company 30yrs ago to install the lines needed for cable tv so now I am stuck with that provider and can't choose any other.

On a positive note you guys dont have our president as your leader.

We  do  get  FREE  Health  care,  but  have  to  pay   for  our  prescriptions, dental  and  eyecare....my  benefits  cover  some  of  that.

We  have  Conservative  Govt.  Now........,  but  election  year  and  we  are  facing  possibility  of  Liberal   or  worse  yet  NDP(Socialists)  govt.  Or  coalition  govt.

Both  those  parties  are  RABID  anti-gun,  and  will  likely   ban  all  AR-15s  and other  semi-autos,  and  handguns  IF  they  form  a  govt.

Not gonna get into politics on here.  All I am gonna say about it it whatever party they come from SUCKS.  They ALL lie, cheat and steal.  They are supposed to work for US the people that vote for them.  NONE of them do.  Unfortunately the GREED that has invaded the system will never be undone until we the people decide that we have had enough of the BS and do something about it.   Our forefathers would be rolling in their graves if they saw what was going on.

Our Shark is just getting through without the extension now.

Been targeting lobster: 16 burbot last Thursday, 15 Friday, no bruisers, a lot of 3-5 pounders, one just a bit less than 11 pounds.

Heading out again tomorrow.
