A man had to be rescued Monday afternoon after falling through the ice in Goose Bay.
Alexandria Bay Fire Chief David Van Brocklin said the man had been fishing alone on the ice and was heading back to shore when the ice gave way.
He said the angler was about 20 yards from shore and was weighed down by his clothing.
Van Brocklin said state Park Police were the first on the scene and threw the man a rope to pull him to safety.
The man was taken into a nearby home to warm up and did not require medical attention.
Van Brocklin said the man had been in the water for about 20 minutes.
He urged people to stay off the ice now that we're seeing warmer temperatures
