Warmer weather last couple of days has me thinking about shad and stripers, but I'm not done on the ice yet. Fishing this weekend at least, and hopefully next will still be decent too. I'm close to the 100 togue mark for the season, just need a few more!
It's always a sad day when you put your traps away for the year. Mine are all packed away and ready to use next year, are any of you still fishing?
Just checked china lake lots of water on the ice.
Nice togue numbers Curious how many days on the ice it took you to get there?
Just checked my log, after this morning, I'm at 99 togue in 18 trips, average trip about 3-4 hours of fishing. I rarely get a full day to fish, funny thing is the one day this season I had a whole day to fish was my only togue skunk! Hopefully still time for a few more before iceout.
I didn't fish near as much as usual this season, and to be honest, though it pains me to say it, I didn't have a lot of interest for much of the season. Going into the season, I was as gung ho as usual. Then the snow showed up at the end of January, I was sick for a couple of weeks, and felt like every spare moment for weeks was spent on snow removal. The ice fishing wheeler that I bought prior to last season gave me some troubles early on, and by the time I got it back in action, there was too much snow for wheelers. Late Feb/early March I spent far too much time on a ladder working on ice dams that caused leaks in my new porch roof, and by then I was so fed up with winter that I proclaimed that I was done fishing, bring on spring. Now I'm spending extra time on the weekends trying to get a work project buttoned up, and by the time it is, the only fishing I'll be doing is open water!I love winter - the cold part - but I HATE snow. Here's to hoping that 2016 will be more favorable!

Two lights how was the ice holding up on sebago? Headed out on Tuesday and hopefully Wednesday also hoping to pass the 100 togue mark for the season.
south for the winter, but there's not a lot going on in Bucksport either.
While one season comes to an end, there's another coming right on its heels. That's the beauty of Maine, there's always something to look forward to. We get to put the auger, traps and snowmobile away, and break-out the boat and rods (although that will be awhile for us up here!); then do the reverse in the fall, with some hunting in between. I don't think I could live in a place where the seasons never change.
