night fishing at Bantam and ice report
« on: Mar 27, 2015, 10:29 AM »
Eerie but peaceful fogged in night. If I didn't have my gps it would have been a struggle to get off the ice. Rock bass and blue gills but no crappie. In one of the photos you can barely see a tree line but it was not visible to the naked eye. At the end of the night the auger was not visible from the sled location. Pretty cool.

Just to update , as I am writing now I am finishing up eating breaded and deep fried bluegill and rock bass. I had two of each. They were about 8 inches long and made a nice lunch for two( but I am eating them all myself). First time eating rock bass. They are as good as any other panfish through the ice.

Nice, how was the shoreline getting on and off? Need a plank yet?

The whole lake was locked in the last two days. I was near Marsh Point which is north bay area.. There was 3-6 inches of slushy ice and 10-12 inches of good ice underneath.  Also I checked the state launch area and was able to walk right on. I saw no open water there either. No crampons needed but waterproof boots and chaps are a must.
