Flipped to the soft water this weekend...
« on: Mar 09, 2015, 08:49 AM »
Ice on the Front Range is essentially over...pulled the fish finder out of the shanty, back on the Kayak...flipped the reels to the fresh water rods...transitioned the lures to the soft water bag....went over all the cables, replaced a bad ground wire on the finder harness ....

It was a great ice season over here, thanks to everyone for their tips and comments...its all about the soft water for now!

Same here.  I hit the open water with my fly rod yesterday and caught crappie, bluegill, & bass.  I'm done with ice for this season.

I'll probably hit WF and Granby a few more times.  Still plenty of ice up there.  Nothing like sunny 40-50 degree weather while catching lakers through the ice.

For those of you who are interested, check out Ice Shanty's website for Open Water season:  http://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/index.php?board=32.0

The Colorado board hasn't been updated in a long time, so it would be great if Colorado Ice Shanty guys wanted to start it up again.  I sure like this group of guys better than the "other" fishing sites here in Colorado.  Just a thought...

3rd time out this year-
Hit up my new fav South Metro pond.  Shorts by 9am.  Gorgeous weather, a few nice fish, solitude. Saw maybe 5 boats all day, and no one fished near us.
Full Moon and recent cold spell drove them deep.
Water temp 38-39F.

Grababrewski got the bass @ 57ft.

I got the eye @ 55ft.

Missed an eye at 47ft.

Lost an eye @ 47ft.

Saw several at 63ft.

Nice fishes. That's a darn big Kayak. How long are your paddles?
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Yeah, your opening post said the fish finder was out of the shanty and onto the Kayak. Picture doesn't look like a Kayak. That will teach me to try to be funny. I may have to sign out until November.

See?  lol this is just the sort of awesome conversation that we should keep going during the open water season: a good post by Monovasia to start a good thread --- some good pics from Slayer --- a little jabbing --- a friendly (and funny) reply --- that's why I love Ice Shanty, and potentially the Colorado MyFishFinder could be the same.

If you've never seen MFF, check it out.  Maybe we can keep this going all year...

The pic looks similar to the back of my lowe fm 165. Definitely not a kayak. But I have been itching to get the boat out myself.

I wish I could say I've been on the open water more than a few times but home improvements holding me down down down. It's like I tagged my sack to the new hardwood floor  :o

I need to get my freekin boat ready! Need a new cranking battery and I busted my stern light mount last season. It's going to be 70 today and Sunday looks amazing!

I'll have to check out MFF and I got to give Slayer some sh!t. He does take it well  ;D
