With all the serious snow and cold this winter has brought, even nesting eagles are toughing out the weather.

Great post. I think a few of us have had the same feeling a few times this winter..

  • I never met a fish I didn't like.
Like the wildlife posts, Rick.  Thanks for sharing.  "Grind TV" seems appropriate.  These eagle parents are sure grinding it out for their family to be.

I didn't know they would sit right there and get snowed over. I thought they'd flap their wings and move their body to shake off the snow. That mothering instinct is some strong!

I saw this about a week ago but didn't come up with any info on it. I don't know if it's the same bird or not. Do Maine eagles nest this early?

The way some of these eagles are acting .Makes one think they are getting a lot more Lead than we realize.

I was watching a snowy owl in Portland back bay Years ago it Few off the top of a lamp post made a half circle and picked up a Black duck that was sleeping with its head under its wing. It then  flew out to a ledge rolled the duck over and striped off breast meat from one side and let it go . I'm sure the duck never made it to another day.

I'm not absolutely sure but I've seen a video of an eagle feeding two chicks in what seems to be the same nest. Looks like they made it through the snow.

The Duke Farms pair are still sitting on two eggs. All of the snow is gone though.
