Higgins question
« on: Mar 04, 2015, 10:54 AM »
I'm thinking about driving out on Higgins (I know the ice is about 2' thick) but I'd like to know about snow depth on the ice. I'm just too danged old to pull a shanty out these days but I'm too old to dig myself out too! Going Sat/Sun and Any info would help.
I like to sit around on the ice doing nothing because my wife won't let me do it at home.

I was up there last weekend, north west part of the lake & there were several trucks out there. The snow cover was about as perfect as you could get. There were some drifts that you had to watch for, mainly near the permanent shanties. If I got into a spot that I started getting concerned with, I'd steer for the "black ice" spots. That seemed to work pretty good.
