After the roads cleared up yesterday,took a ride up for some Crappies...had to work for them,caught most jigging a bug n spike and I had another rod I was deadsticking with rosy red minnows I found at Hook and Arrow. Thats what I caught the 17incher on and the White Crappie also. Im planning on getting it mounted..any recommendations for Taxidermists would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

Taxi is a taxidermist if I remember correctly.

Very nice fish. My son got his brother,17 in. 3 lb fish about six weeks ago and got it back from the taxidermest already,turned out unbelievable. Congrats on a TRUE 17.

That's the largest crappie with proof that I've have seen in Indiana waters. I know there are many of you all that truly have caught as big if not bigger but for everyone that really has there's 10 that think they have. Great fish. Any where.

Let me add this, if that fish was caught from public waters it is even more impressive. From private waters, ponds/lakes still a trophy but not as impressive.

I'm sure the other fish in the picture are quality fish but that toad just dwarfs everything else making the others look like minnows!

You may want to enter that in the "fish of the year" for the IDNR. It is not unusual for a fish this size to win.

Might want to check back to another thread this season! I hear the "proof" part, but if you examine the 2 photo you will note the similar size of the "average" fish in the picture compared to the slabs. That public water has given up some good fish this year and a lot in the 9-10 range.

Sprkplug, As i said Trophy fish,but i know of some private waters that have giving up that size of fish. If it did come from public waters it is a once in a life timer.I'm still waiting on my life timer and I'm getting old and fish several times a week, mostly after crappie.
