The guy at the beverage Barron in PennYan told me some guys were in buying bait to fish the north end of Seneca by the state park.  I have heard stories of the best pike fishing by the yacht club but there hasn't been enough ice in years to fish. Not sure if anyone was down there, but there are guys at the state park fishing in the marina.

On Tuesday I drove by the north end. Ice was out maybe 200 yds. On west side.
I cannot tell you how thick it was. There were no visible fishermen, but it was Tuesday
late afternoon. I would urge extreme caution if you venture out there.

Drove by Seneca Lake this morning, ice did NOT look anywhere close to safe. Maybe very close to shore along coves in the north end, but....

Why not drive the extra 10-15 minutes to Keuka Lake, which has great ice?
