Congrats 207! My first year in MT, I waited to fish/hunt until I was considered a permanent resident.  I missed out on open water fishing (I didn't ice fish until a couple years later) but it ended up being the mule deer rut when I was able to buy a tag.

Don't forget Elk and Deer permit applications are due March 16

Thanks, MTH! We got here last May, and there was no way I could skip open water til now. $150ish for two non res licences was richer than I wanted, but I feel we got our money's worth. Pretty happy to only need to invest roughly only $50 for this year though. Hoping for better ice next year!

Glad I saw this post yesterday morning because I would've completely spaced it out & hit the hardwater next week with an expired license. Immediately went & got the wife, daughter, & myself new ones.

Glad to have my new license to hand to the warden this morning! Same warden who checked it the one day I got on the ice this winter; he remembered us as soon as we mentioned being from Maine. Great to have such friendly enforcement folks out here!
