lake champlain cousin trip
« on: Feb 24, 2015, 07:56 AM »
took a trip up north with my cousin who has been wanting to go for like 5 yrs and it finally happened. had to deal with mother nature a bit but glad we had the trailer to get us out of the elements. great to see ya Jschumacher and the boys. you guys got the hard core award for the weekend and your right about the numbers being down. we got about 30 pike and 1 bowfin between the 2 of us for the 3 days we were there. that storm was the worst storm I have ever experienced and I am glad we had the camper. there was a point were we just let the wind do its thing then picked up in the dark in the wind driven snow. the tip ups we missed where frozen solid into the ice due to the extreme cold so chipping those out took us a few hours. sun the day we were leaving was the best bite day. stayed till 2pm to make up for the slow fishing the days before. he had a great time. here are a few of the quality fish we caught.

Nice fish Kevin.  Can't wait till I can get up there.
It is MY responsibility to make sure my children can enjoy fishing years from now. Make sure your kids can fish.  If you see something ILLEGAL Contact the Massachusetts Environmental Police Radio Room at 1-800-632-8075 at any hour of the day. They might show up if there is enough staff working.

ziff my cousin reminds me a lot of flaggs and I want them to meet one day. he could pass as flaggs stunt double in the movies. they both have the same laugh.

bottom line the snow was more than I had seen in the 5yrs going there. a lot of people getting stuck but no slush. I stuck to the plowed ice.

If the storm you are talking about was Saturday 2/22 we were out in that as well.  It was nasty, but, the only time we had to fish so we stuck it out the best we could.

You're going to be the billion mile fisherman soon, but with a fish or two to show for every mile travelled that ain't so bad...

I might have had you beat a few years ago Kevin. I think I fished Cheshire most of the entire season . 😆  That is about 210 miles per day  ;D Nice having local ice to fish and travel when its wanted not needed. I'm heading up to VT next year with you guys! Now that I'm sporting the Striker gear 👍
