erie walleye help
« on: Feb 23, 2015, 04:43 PM »
Hey everyone
I'm from pa and thinking about heading out for walleye near port clinton
just wondering if anyone had some advice
What I really need help with is ice conditions and any safety info
Well be bringing a quad   I have a big heavy 4×4 and a little 2wd
I'd rather take the 2wd quad for weight purposes will that be good enough?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

From everything I've read crane creek seems to be better ice
I'm guessing there is a pretty easy to find trail that guys are going out on
Do guys fish at night out there?

If u have never been there on the weekend it is pandemonium.  Two weeks ago I had friends in from pa so we launched off Catawba.  We were pulling in at 550a and the lot was full people already turning around. It is really something to see everyone heading out in the dark it looked like head lights going for miles out to the shanty town. I am pretty lucky and fish mostly during the week. I forgot how nutts the weekends are.  Good luck.        Mark

There are more fisherman than you can believe on the weekend. Get everything the day before.

The 4x4 isn't registered or anything.  how often do people get checked for that?

I talked with a game warden and he said they do not check for registrations. He said just don't race up and down the streets and you will be fine.
