It feels more like the beginning of April, rather than the third week of February, with the lack of posts on IceShanty (and the lack of ice!). Who else is still ice fishing besides me?

several fisherman on Keyhole today. Ice is impoving in this cooler weather. Fishing has been good for walleye, northern, and crappie.

I am....have one more derby to hit at fremont lake north of pinedale. Ice conditions are only growing there. Last weekend I hit viva naughton reservoir. Same story on that lake. One of the few where ice conditions are actually getting better.

I will be ice fishing for a while yet.I fish some lakes that i use waders to get across the bad shore ice and onto thick soft ice. Last year last 3 trips just walked out with waders on and started fishing did not even need an auger.I only fish real shallow (less than 6 feet)and bring dry clothes.I have never gotten wet but plan for it every trip.I dont quit until I can't get to safe ice with waders.I have had great days icing and open water on the same lake on the same day. Standing in 3 inches of water on top of ice will make your feet colder than you can imagine even in neopreme waders.

Planning on hitting some high lakes here in CO. next week end. Though maybe I would get a trip to Flaming, but that hasn't panned out.

Going to try Naughton Monday. Only kept 5 Bows last weekend but nothing to qualify for the derby though. Might be the last ice trip for this season. Stay safe out there.

Just returned from a four day trip to the Black Hills. Lakers, rainbows, brookies were iced, and we found columns of perch on the Vexilar from a 35' bottom up to about 8' - 10' below the ice. Largest perch was 12.75". I'll most likely be on the ice hopefully for another 4 - 6 weeks if everything (weather) works out right!

Jackson lake ice is in excellent condition, it's -10 this morning in Teton Co. Fishing was on fire this weekend as well.

No reason not to. It was -18 this morning at the house in riverton caught 3 more sauger last night on boysen and the is was popping and moaning like it was early ice

Oneal, Naughton had over 20 inches of ice last Thursday and I'm sure it has made some more ice with below zero temps the last couple of nights. Should be safe for quite awhile.

Charged, drained, and put all of my ice fishing stuff away for the year. But after the recent cold weather we have had the past 2 weeks decided to drive up to the lakes I usually fish. Took a spud bar to see if the ice is good and it was in great shape. So I took all of the ice fishing stuff out of storage and will hit the ice first thing tomorrow.

Fished on Halfmoon on 2/26 and 2/12. The ice was thicker on the 26th. The lake had about a 12+ inches of ice, about 2" of water, then about 2" of ice with snow cover on the 12th, it sure spooked you crunching thru to water. On the 26th, it was all ice with snow on top. Hopefully will try Seminoe in the next week.

I fished Jackson lake last Saturday. The ice was still good. Looking at it from a distance it doesn't look like it but I was north of Colter bay and had at least 16" of solid good ice. There wasn't any snow on top of it so no slush either. Biggest problem was in the morning the hifax on the snow machine getting hot with no snow to cool them off. Caught plenty of fish but 4 lb. was about the biggest. Headed back this weekend. We got some snow since then but I don't think it was enough to cause any flooding.
