Fun Day at the Blue Mesa.
« on: Feb 21, 2015, 10:16 AM »
Wife and I hit Elk Creek and each caught 3 and both lost one at the hole. We missed a lot of bites. Fish were in 55 FOW but only hitting at 12-16'. Boy it was a beautiful day right up until 1PM when the wind around 40MPH hit the tent that wasn't staked out. I had just stood up to go out and stake it down and instead had to grab a hold before it blew to Denver. Called it quits then. All fish were between 16-19". Got a video of the wife trying to keep a fish from going back down the hole by first kicking at it and almost falling to her butt and then swiping it with her hand to save it. Pretty funny but I was told it can not go on the internet. The funniest thing about it is she released it anyway.

Very nice sized fish Lefty.  That wind can come on fast n furious.  The wife's big one dance had to be a hoot!  I gotta get out one more time there but the river is calling too.

Yes the River is awaiting. Wife and I had a few real good days there. We just use Lures no Flies and do pretty good. Last time out the wife caught a beautiful Brown out of the upper part from Pleasure Park.

It appears that you guys are by the dam, if so, how thick is the ice there?

No where near the dam. If you read the post you would see I said Elk Creek and that is the Marina docks in the picture.
