A Little Bling For my Marcum
« on: Feb 20, 2015, 08:08 PM »
On my first outing this year I managed to break the transducer arm on my LX-5.
With a little help from the Iowa boys here on IS I got in contact with Shane who makes these arms for Marcums.
Mine came in today and is now installed and looking good.   ;D

Sweet! I need one of those for my Showdown. Is that arm piece the same on all the marcum units? Who are these guys that make those? I want one.

That looks real cool especially with the added engraving.  Please post the guy's contact information.

Marcum uses the same arms on all their machines.

Yes. Post contact info for that product please. I haven't broken the arm on my unit, yet, but it looks like the 'weak link' to me out of the box.

Now if someone cant come up with something that keeps the transducer from freezing in the holder it would be a perfect machine  ???

Drill some holes through the bottom of the case where the transducer rests.  It will help let the water drain out.  If you're hole hopping, just rest the transducer sideways in the cup.  That's what's worked best for me

Yep. Have had my share of little black bits stuck to my ducer. Now I just stick the ducer in the pocket or lay it sideways inside the cover when moving. Hole hopping I just let it hang. Then when I get home I let it thaw before removing from the cup. The only bad part about leaving the ducer out of the case while moving is that the moisture on it will freeze, and it will take 10-15 seconds for it to read correctly when placed in a hole.

I turn my transducer sideways when its cold out then it doesn't freeze on the bottom

I just changed jobs this week guys and I will no longer be able to produce these.  I actually just had to send a payment back to a person today due to this.

While it sucks that this has come to an abrupt ending, the new opportunity I have came upon will be less stressful and more gratifying for my personal life.  I have a couple more years till child support ends, and then I will look into purchasing a used cnc mill to manufacture these at home.  Till then, thanks again for your support and appreciation in my handywork!!

Rare discontinued shane arm for sale... $75. LOL!!!

We all have to make sacrifices, hoping for the best. Good luck on your goal to self produce the arms. ;)
