Flaming gorge campgrounds?
« on: Feb 19, 2015, 04:07 PM »
Where does everyone camp during the summer months?

No camper,  it would be nice to have access to a shower, electric, and be close to a boat ramp to launch the boat.

Rarely use a campground, but on the two occasions I have it's been at the Buckboard campground. I know there is a plug in for electric, the boat ramp is right there, and I'm pretty sure there are showers.

When hell freezes over, I’ll ice fish there too!

Do most people fish for Mac's around the state line?  If so, then it looks like a 20 mile boat ride?

If you want to fish for macs then Lucerne is a great place to camp.  Also you can launch your boat there or at Anvil boat ramp, both are only a few miles to the state line.
Fishing is not about life or death, it is much more important than that! And all I have to say is FISH ON baby.

Hey all! I've limited experience at the Gorge but have stayed at both Lucerne and the state campground at Buckboard. The sites with electricity fill up real quick and I'd advise reservations for those plenty early if planning a weekend stay. I had no trouble getting electric during the week in June 2014 at buckboard but had to move for the weekend to non-electric spot. Didn't try for electric at Lucerne in Aug. about three years ago. Lucerne added new sites. I think it was last year. Check out Kokanee Forum. Tons of info there and like here a dedicated bunch of REALLY GREAT folks and up dated info. ;D
