I was snow blowing  and  I have a  windshield  on the snow blower (you  get one  when you become a ol fart) anyways  the film windshield   became brittle  from the  cold and broke  ,any ideas  on a  replace ment  ........ I was thinking the materal  one uses  in a  shanty  for a window

Yup lowes or home depot should have it. If you need to drill it to mount it use light pressure and drill over something solid

Trapper2000, check out Walmart sewing dept., they have a clear, heavy duty vinyl material sold by the yard that I have used as lure guards. It is cheap too.

If you use Lexan and it has a paper covering leave it on when you drill and as Turf said make sure you have something hard under the drill area ,a piece of 2x4 will do.Any Glass Co. will have it and will drill it for you which is probably the way to go if you have never worked with it before,there's nothing complicated about drilling ,it' just cracks easily.
I ordered a cab for my snowblower yesterday and if the Arctic blasts and snow keep up I'll be fishing for Snook

Drill bits need to be altered for plexi and lexan.


90* rake, 60* bevel if I remember correctly. I just used to take a standard drill bit and flatten the cutting edge at 90*  to,the shaft. They scrape more than cut.

I'm guessing you need sheet vinyl not plexiglass or lexan. Looked at getting one for my dad. More of a shroud that goes in front and around your sides. I'd take bars advice and head to the fabric store. I saw brand new ones on amazon for around $75 also

I would take it to a Place that repairs Marine windows & have Commercial Grade material used. Should last a long time. Walt

I'm not an old fart and don't mean to hi jack your thread but I'm actually looking to buy a cab for my blower at the moment aND have never bought nor used one. Price ranges from $350 for the "toro" one to $50 for a generic one on ebay.  Any thoughts?

I took barts suggestion and  wal mart again saves  the  day!  I replaces the window for a  few dollars and now  I  know what to do no for  ice shanty windows

mine  was a  gift  it was  purchased from lowes ,not sure for how much  ,it serves the purpose and  if  I hadn't   hit  the  window  to get the snow off I wouldn't have started  this thread
