Ice conditions were changing rapidly yesterday.  After today I would put it on an hour by hour notice.  5 in of clear ice and 2 inch of slush yesterday with lots of standing water on ice by the time the sun was going down.

Fished at refuge in Saturday and it's not very good. What was fairly safe yesterday is bad now. Duck has a lot of open water and is difficult to ge off dry.

Brrr! :o -6 this AM. Two thirds of the next 10 days are not supposed to be above freezin'.  It's not over yet. However, take spikes, rope, a friend, and a change of clothes!

...and a SPUD BAR!  The BEST WAY to limit the need to use those hand spikes!  Also, anyone not wearing a LIFE JACKET or a "float suit" on new or late ice is just "tempting fate".

was there this afternoon on 3" of clear hard ice. With the forecasted low temps in the near future, if anyone has time the next few daze, should be able to find fishable ice somewhere. @)

was there sun. till dark, quite a bit of open water but fishable ice (3"-4") could be found with some effort. I'm sure there's less ice by now =2nd day of 30mph winds! :%$#!:
