wisconsin fishing regulations?
« on: Feb 04, 2015, 11:20 AM »
New to ice fishing and only been in the state two years. I see in the reg book three hooks allowed? Is that three poles/tip ups? What about more than one hook per line? I like more than one hook when vertical fishing crappie but not sure if its legal if I have two tip ups and use my jig pole with more than one hook? Thanks for any help.

i talked to wardens a few years back, if the line has multiple hooks that can catch separate fish it counts as more than one. If the line has two separate hooks placed a foot apart each with a minnow, that counts as two. If you have a jig with a stinger hook with one bait it is a single. I normally use one jig pole and a couple tip ups.

On page 8, it states it is illegal to fish with more than 3 hooks, baits, or lures. So I would assume it means 2 jigs on one line would count as 2.
